In January 2014, Rincon Country Mobile Home Park (“RCMHP”) announced the creation of its 55+ Senior Citizens Mentorship Program for Tucson Youth, in partnership with Junior Achievement of Arizona (JA). To launch this initiative, RCMHP offered to Tucson what we hope will be the first ever Rincon Country Rally Days.
The objective of this event was to demonstrate that, as 55+ citizens, RCMHP residents are active adults who have not forgotten what fun is or how to have it, while also sharing our life experiences and knowledge with local youth through already established organizations like JA and the Tucson Urban League that are actively engaged in youth development. In essence, Rincon Country Rally Days was designed to ‘RALLY’ families, friends and surrounding Tucson communities together at our community, Rincon Country Mobile Home Park. Rally Days was not only be for our residents, but RCMHP residents hosted the community’s visitors as well.
The entire event included three (3) days of carnival-like activities, from Friday evening March 28th to Sunday night March 30th, taking place inside Rincon Country MHP.
Separate and apart from our new mentor partnership with Junior Achievement, St. Louis Rams NFL Super Bowl XXXIV Champion Roland Williams and International Championships 2012 Olympic Games Gold medalist Dee Dee Trotter were here to help us host our Rally Days activities. As a community outreach, on Friday the 28th, prior to the opening day of Rincon Rally Days, Roland visited Acacia Elementary School in Vail Arizona, and Pima Country Juvenile Court and Angel Family Center located here in Tucson. During his visit he spoke to youth on such topics as role models, providing guidance in leadership, teamwork, career development, life skills, positive choices, anti-gang, anti-drug and anti-violence.
Rincon Country Rally Days activities were open to all, and restricted only to those who were not interested in participating in the positive outcome of helping Tucson’s youth.
