This page is dedicated to the residents of the Rincon Country Mobile Home Park who kindly give of their time to assist with activities and events for the benefit of their fellow neighbors. Each month, we will be spotlighting two volunteers so you can get to know them better. We hope you will enjoy learning more about their backgrounds and what motivates them. We sat down with Bonnie Loftus recently and discussed the following: ___________________________________________________________________
RCMHP: Where did you live before coming to Rincon Country MHP?
Bonnie: I lived in Rockfort, Illinois, which is near Chicago.
RCMHP: What made you decide to move into Rincon Country MHP?
Bonnie: First of all, I was tired of living in apartments. Then one day I happened to drive by Rincon Country and the rest is history.
RCMHP: What made you decide to volunteer?
Bonnie: I like to try and help people who need help. So I will volunteer if I can help someone. It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as I can help someone I will do it. I’m happy to assist with paperwork; take someone to a doctor’s appointment, etc. For instance, I’ve helped different ones sign up for the food bank, Urban League, etc.
RCMHP: Have you enjoyed your volunteer work?
Bonnie: Yes, I enjoy it a lot. Because I like to interact with people. And it’s fulfilling.
RCMHP: What would you say to get others interested in volunteering?
Bonnie: I would probably say that if you’re really interested in what goes on and interested in people, then I would recommend that you volunteer.
RCMHP: What do you like to do with your spare time when not busy volunteering?
Bonnie: I like to read a lot. I always have one or two books going. I also record movies and watch them occasionally. But reading is what I truly enjoy.
RCMHP: Would you like to add anything else?
Bonnie: That what I really enjoy the most is helping people who need life’s necessities, such as food, etc.
